The range was built using the latest in shooting range equipment including a target retrieval system on the handgun range and a video target viewing system on the rifle range. Shooters can shoot prone, standing or sitting. Range Safety Officers are on duty to assist guests. All ranges are handicapped accessible. A variety of classes are also offered. Muzzleloaders are welcome. Eye and ear protection is required and all guns must be in a case. Shotguns are allowed in the pistol range with slugs only. BB and pellet rifles, spring or air, can be used on the pistol range.
AMMUNITION POLICY
Colorado Clays does not allow use of any armor piercing, tracer, incendiary, steel jacketed, steel cased or steel core projectiles. The cartridge case can be any metal commonly used by ammunition manufacturers excluding steel. The projectiles must be lead core bullets with or without a copper jacket. Check your bullets with a magnet. If it sticks, you won’t be allowed to use that bullet at our range. For example, most of the bullets for a 7.62X39 and 7.62X54 Russian have a steel jacket with a thin copper electroplate finish that makes the bullet appear to be copper jacketed. Also, M855 “Green Tips” in 5.56 NATO have a copper jacket, with a lead core, and a steel penetrator tip. None of these bullets will pass the magnet test and none of them are allowed on our range. Please unload magazines prior to visiting the range, as each bullet will be checked.
