Introductory Shotgun Clinic

Interested in learning about shotgun shooting? This clinic is taught by Caesar Guerini & Cabela’s Pro Staff shooter Mark Taylor. Mark has over 40 years of shooting experience. He is the author of one of the bestselling books on sport psychology techniques for trap, skeet and sporting clays “Clay Target Shooting – The Mental Game” and co-author of the book “Break ‘em All”. This hands-on clinic is designed to introduce men and women, who have no shooting experience with the shotgun disciplines (trap, skeet & sporting clays), with proper instruction in a classroom and range setting. The clinic is focused on learning rules and safety, practical handling and shooting skills and range procedures and etiquette.

Time:             8:00 am – 11:00 am

Cost:              $100.00

The fee includes targets. Eye and ear protection, ammunition (50 rounds) and shotgun must be supplied by participant and is not included in the course fee. Rental shotguns are available for $25.00.

Bowling Pin Shoot – .22 Caliber Pin Tops
Aug 16 @ 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Week 2:  8/16/23 .22 Caliber Competition

Match will start with a brief safety meeting after which everyone will be given a number and randomly placed in a bracket. Shooters will be called by their number to compete against each other in a head-to-head, double elimination bracket. Winners will be determined by who knocks their pins completely off the table before their opponent at 10 yards. Only the top portion of the pin is used in the .22LR Match.  The winner of each round will advance in the winners’ bracket and loser will be moved to a lower bracket. You will compete until you have lost twice.

* BONUS:  We will have a TEXAS STAR on the Pistol side of the range for you shooting enjoyment!

Let’s Shoot Out Alzheimer’s Sporting Clays Event

Rifle 101/NRA Basic Rifle Class

Rifle 101: This course will help the new shooter get started and become familiar with the 3 most common types of rifles – bolt action, semi-automatic and lever action.  It will cover topics such as safety, nomenclature and function, along with proper rifle shooting stances, proper sight picture, sight alignment, breath control, hold control, trigger control, and follow through. We’ll discuss correct loading and unloading techniques and you’ll learn valuable Dry Practice skills that will allow you to practice on your own at home. We’ll also discuss cleaning and maintenance of your firearm. Instructor will provide rifles if the student does not have one – this is a great way to find out which one is best before making a purchase.

Bowling Pin Shoot – Steel Pin Challenge (Timed)

Week 3:  8/23/23 Steel Plate Competition – Timed

Match will start with a brief safety meeting after which everyone will be given a number to determine shooting order. Shooters will be called by their number to compete in a timed event to knock over 5 steel pins at 10 yards. Each shooter will shoot the event 4 times and the lowest 2 times will be added together for their final time.  Winners will be determined by who has the lowest total times.  (.22LR, .380 to .45 Auto, no magnums)

Handgun 101/NRA Basic Pistol Class

Handgun 101: This course will help the new shooter get started and become familiar with the 2 most common types of handguns – semi-automatic and revolvers.  It will cover topics such as safety, nomenclature and function, along with proper handgun grip and shooting stance, proper sight picture, sight alignment, front sight focus, trigger control, and follow through. We’ll discuss correct loading and unloading techniques and you’ll learn valuable Dry Practice skills that will allow you to practice on your own at home. We’ll also discuss cleaning and maintenance of your firearm. Instructor will provide handguns if the student does not have one – this is a great way to find out which one is best before making a purchase.
